A week away

Amanda and Dan on their wedding day
A few weeks ago, Andy and I went on a little vacation to Mexico for my girlfriends wedding.  This was our first vacation without Calleigh.  Calleigh stayed home with my mom.  We sent messages every day of how our day was going and mom sent some back to inform us of how our little girl was doing.

Andy and I had a really nice and relaxing time.  I highly recommend everyone needs to do this every now and again.  The highlight of our trip had to be my girlfriends wedding.  She looked absolutely shunning on her special day.  We couldn't have asked for better weather that day.  On our last day there, everyone who attended the wedding went on a boat cruise, we saw baby whales, mother whales, dolphins and of course sea lions.  It truly was amazing.

Our little girl got to spend time with grandma Cathy and grandma Barb.  Of course she was a perfect delight, is what we get told.  However, she did manage to climb out of her pack and play two days.  So that was an experience for grandma Cathy.  She hasn't tried it again since then, so hopefully we are past that.  Calleigh got to go to a hockey game and of course once again she was happy and content.  Overall our little girl did great without us for a week.  But we sure did miss her and were REALLY glad to get home to kiss our little girl, even though she didn't give us the welcoming we were looking for.

Shoes, Shoes, and more Shoes

I think Calleigh has finally caught on to my addiction with shoes.  Andy and I were sitting on the couch, Andy had his shoes sitting next to him.  Calleigh thought it would be a great idea, to try and put his shoes on.  Well you can only imagine what that looked it.  It was absolutely adorable.

Later I find Calleigh in her room, pulling all the "too big" shoes out of her closet trying to put them on.  She did a great job, she ended up getting a pair on.  She wasn't to excited to walk in them, but man did she have a good time trying them all on and of course making a hug mess in the mean time.  I think she has finally figured out how wonderful shoes can be.  Now we just have to get those little feet of hers to grow a little bigger so that she can actually wear all those wonderful "too big" shoes.

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year New Everyone!!!  Well as we bring 2010 to a close and look forward to 2011, it has been a great year for us.

We rang in New Years over at my mom and dad's house.  We had dinner, snack, and drinks.  We decided to have a Wii bowling tournament.  It was a success and a lot of fun!!!  We had about 10 people playing. Ryan (my brother in-law) was the winner for this year.  Hopefully we can make this a tradition and do it again next year.  Andy and Ryan had bought some fireworks.  When we rang in the New Year, the two of them were bearing the cold temperatures (28F) to give us a fireworks display.  The evening was a success, and we look forward to 2011!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

Calleigh's new swing set
I know I am one day behind, but its been a really busy couple of days.  On Christmas Eve, we started our Christmas celebration.  Andy and my parents surprised us, with a huge swing set for Calleigh.  We were not expecting this at all.  It was a huge surprise, and we are very grateful for this wonderful surprise.  So Andy has been hard at work trying to get it all set up.  Later in the day, we went to Andy's parents house for Christmas, we had some good food, and opened our gifts.  We then went to Church as a huge family.  It was nice to celebrate the day with everyone.

Christmas morning, I made breakfast and we opened our gifts at home.  Calleigh was not one bit interested. She would rather play with all her toys instead.  My advice to other parents who have young ones, is get the toys set up before Christmas, so the day of, they know what it is and they will open it and be excited about it.  Calleigh loves her new toys now that they are put together and she can play with them.  Once we were done at our house we went to my parents' house to celebrate Christmas over there.  Once again Calleigh was not the least bit interested in any gift opening.  Maybe next year!!  Overall, we had a wonderful fulfilling couple of days.  We are ready for some rest and to bring in 2011!!!

Calleigh's a winner

I am getting ready for my annual Special Olympics event next week.  I am getting all the paper work done, and making sure we have volunteers and what not ready to go.  I was counting out the medals needed to give out for our competition.  Andy was home with Calleigh while I was at the ice rink. Andy hears some clicking (like when medal click together).  Andy didn't think anything of it, he just thought it was Calleigh playing with Cash's dog collar.  Until, Cash shook and his collar made the clicking noise.  Then Andy knew for sure it wasn't Cash's collar.  He comes into the office to find, Calleigh putting on all the medals around her neck, saying to her dad "pretty, pretty"  I guess she just wanted to feel like a winner!!!!

Daddy's dressing skills

Okay, so I went to the ice rink this morning and told Andy to get Calleigh dressed.  He asked, "Is there an outfit out for her, or should I find something for her." I said, "No, I didn't get anything out, but just find something to put on her." Well that was a little mistake.  I know, Andy tries really hard, but all mothers know that its just not the same.  When I got home from the ice rink, Calleigh was wearing a light pink skirt, a light pink long shelved shirt, a pair of striped brown and tan legging pants and a pair of white socks pulled up towards her pants.  All with a fuchsia and lime green bow.  I am proud that he actually took the time to finish the outfit with a bow. Way to go dear!!!  He said that she needed a bow because they went out to the grocery store.  I said, "You took her out in public with this outfit."  I know Calleigh doesn't care, but mommy cares.  I guess next time when Andy asks, "Is there an outfit out for her?" I will make sure to say YES.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow!!!

It has been like over a month since my last post.  Man we have been so busy around here, its hard to believe the Christmas season is upon us.

Last week, Calleigh, my mom and I went up to Canada to visit my Grandma, Uncle, Aunt and cousins in Edmonton.  We arrived right in the middle of their first winter snow storm.  It was so cold, -20C (-4F).  Calleigh looked so cute all bundled up in her hat, and jacket.  However she hated every moment of it.  I have come to the conclusion that she likes it warm and really hates the cold.  We had a nice but short visit with grandma and the rest of the family and then it was off to Vancouver.

Once again we hit the weekend, with the coldest on record, and their snow storm as well.  We just couldn't get away from this stuff.  It was a little warmer but not much, -10C (14F).  We visited with Grandma and friends and family.  It was my godson's birthday, so we got to celebrate his special day while we were there.  It was a lot of fun to see everyone, but we are so glad to be home in the warmer weather.  I think it will be a while again before we get to play in the snow, maybe Calleigh will enjoy more the next time......
