We Proudly Announce...

The Streit Family is proud to announce that on Monday October 17 at 7:16am we proudly welcomed Aidan Paul into our family, weighing 7 lbs 8oz and 20 inches long.

My water broke at 4:30am, that is when I knew that this baby was coming today.  He was listening to Grandpa David.  (My dad had to travel back to New York, and if he hadn't arrived this weekend he wouldn't have seen him for almost 3 WEEKS.  My dad was thrilled that it all worked out and Mr. Aidan listened to his grandpa.)  I called my mom at about 4:45am and told her about my water, by 5:30 I called again and told her she should probably start making her way over to the house.  In the mean time, we also called my mother in law, Barb, and she decided as well to make her way over to the house as well.  By 6am we decided to make our way to the hospital.  My mom came with us, and Barb stayed at the house to watch Calleigh.  We got to the hospital and got checked in, as soon as we entered the doors of the hospital my contractions were so close together and painful.  They wheeled me over to triage, and had me wait for the nurse.  By this point, I had probably 3 contractions in the triage room waiting for a nurse to come and check on us.  I had my mom go and tell them that I was having the urge to push, so they rushed over to me.  I was dilated to 7.5 cm by this point.  They then pushed me in the bed to delivery room, where I was having more urges to push.  They checked me and was dilated to 9.5 cm.  Next contraction I was completed dilated and ready to have a baby.  However, I had NO DOCTOR, the doctor who was on call was on her way out and the other one hadn't gotten there yet.  Well she came running back into the room, and three pushes later our little Aidan Paul was born at 7:16am.

This was a very fast delivery as well, only 2 1/2 hours of labor and three pushes and our little man was here.  He truly was a surprise, but we are very happy and excited to have him here.

Andy's Birthday

Last night we celebrated Andy's Birthday, yes I know his birthday was a week ago, but it was the only time all the family could get together.  For Andy's birthday he requested to have some lobster, crab and cesar salad for his birthday dinner.  He was very excited to go and pick out his lobster to cook.  Yes, he wanted a real live lobster.  Calleigh wanted nothing to do with it, and really didn't even care.  Andy was very thrilled that he could experience cooking a live lobster.  He ended the evening with his favorite cake, cheese cake, which I made, and it was delicious.  Andy had a wonderful night, celebrating his 29th birthday with his family.

Coffee with Daddy

Every Sunday morning Calleigh looks forward to having some coffee with her dad.  Together they make the coffee.  Calleigh gets to add the scoops of coffee grains, and push the button.  She sits so patiently waiting for the coffee to brew.  Once ready Calleigh and her dad, go and have coffee at her little table, and Calleigh talks about who knows what.  I love listening to their conversation, and watching them interact.  Calleigh sure enjoys this time with her dad.  She really looks forward to having coffee with her dad every Sunday morning.

Wrap up Week

Calleigh and ALL her art projects
28 weeks
Face of baby @28 weeks
This week was busy, but in a good way.  Calleigh finished her art class on Wednesday, and swimming lessons on Thursday.  She really enjoyed her art class, she made so many different things.  She came along way from the very first day of class.  The first day she wouldn't touch anything, and on the last day she was all about the shaving cream and getting it all over her hands and rubbing it all over the table.  We finished up swim lessons for the summer.  She really did well this third time around.  She has absolutely no fear.  I am convinced that if she were to every fall in the water she could get her self out of the water or swim to safety.

I also had my 28 week appointment this week.  It included another ultrasound, to measure growth and to see if baby's head was down or not.  Everything is good and where it should be.  Got my results back from my glucose test and everything came back good.  So we don't have to worry about that, thank goodness.  Now I start going every two weeks to the doctor, oh how I love to visit the doctor.

Last night Andy and I decided to change Calleigh's crib into its toddler bed.  We weren't sure how it was going to be but she did so great at it.  Yes, she got up a few times but after about 45 minutes she was asleep.  I checked her before I went to bed and she was in her bed.  Andy checked on her this morning and she was sleeping on the floor.  However, he checked on her one more time before he left for work and she was back into her bed.  She also did really well for her nap today, this time it only took her 30 minutes to fall asleep, so we are getting better.  We are so proud of her, she is growing up so fast.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!!!

Calleigh's favorite page!!
Calleigh points to the letters
and sings the alphabet
About three weeks ago, I took Calleigh back to the library to get some new books.  We picked out a few that looked interesting to her.  But the one she absolutely loves is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.  We have read it every day multiple times a day every since.  Well we went back to the library today to return the library books, I had full intentions of renewing the book, however someone had requested it and so we had to leave it at the library.  All hell broke lose, she had a complete melt down in the middle of the library.  It broke my heart, she really didn't understand why we had to give her book away.  So off to the book store we went.  We purchased the book and all was better.  Now we will have this book forever.

Stay-cation

In case some of you are not familiar with the word stay-cation, its the word we use when you go on a vacation but stay in your city.  This was a new word for me, but it really works.  Well Andy and I did just that this past weekend.  We went to the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, for a little get away and to celebrate our anniversary.  Grandma Cathy watched Calleigh for us so we could go just the two of us.  We had a nice relaxing time.  Andy had fun going down the water slides and I sat by pool reading my book.  We enjoyed a nice expensive/dinner together, then finished the evening with a movie at the pool.  It was quite neat, they projected the movie Wall-E on a huge screen and you could sit in the pool on a floaty to watch the movie.  For having brought no kids with us, we sure gravitated to the splash pool where the water slides were and watching a movie with a whole bunch of kids and parents.  I guess that goes to show you how your life really does change once you have kids, things like that don't seem to bother us, and don't feel weird at all.  Overall, we had a nice time together and look forward to many more in the future.

Never to big

I have had Calleigh's bouncy chair set up for a long time, I used it when I was watching my nephew, when he was little.  Well he has grown out of it and really I just never took it apart again.  I placed it in Calleigh's room, and she loves to sit in it.  Well, yesterday I decided to move it, so that it wasn't taken up so much room in Calleigh bedroom.  I placed it in the soon to be nursery closet.  And tonight she found it and actually sat in it.  What a crazy girl, I guess she is never to big for her bouncy chair.  The pictures speak for themselves!!!!!!

Fun with Dad

Calleigh waiting so patiently
The fun game of
spinning
Andy always comes up with different ways to thrill our daughter.  Tonight he decided to put Calleigh in his laundry basket and swing her around.  Well of course our dare devil of a daughter LOVED it.  I am sure I will find her in the closet tomorrow trying to swing in the basket again.  It was very cute, and love that they can find fun, crazy games to play with each other.

24 Weeks and Counting

Today I had my routine monthly check-up for my prenatal.  And well guess what, I am still pregnant and their is something moving around in my belly. Everything looks good, next step go and do my glucose test in the next couple of weeks.  Then one more monthly appointment and then they will be every two weeks.  How can that be, already, needing to go every two weeks.  I mean I know its still in a month and a bit, but it really had gone by fast. Can't wait to meet the little person that has been in my belly for the last nine months.

Calleigh's art

Well we are plugging through art class, today we did the letter Pp, and Qq.  She is definitely getting into it, she is wanting to get her hands dirty, which is good.  I remember the first day of class she wouldn't even touch the paint, now she puts her whole hand into it, even if there is a brush to use.  She loves to squeeze the glue all over her projects.  Here are some of her latest projects:

Reading

Calleigh loves to look/read books.  Today she found a big book, I had from my classroom.  It is a big book and its absolutely adorable how she sits on the couch and turns the pages, while she reads the book.  The book is about the same size as her, but she finds it very funny to read the book.

4th of July

Well, I fell asleep last night before I could post anything about our 4th of July.  We really didn't do much.  We sat around the house and just played and watched movies.  After Calleigh got up from a nap, we went over to my in-laws for a swim and some hot dogs and brats.  Andy and our brother in-law Ryan set off a lot of fireworks.  It was a lot of fun.  Happy 4th of July!!!

Lazy day

Today we had a totally lazy day.  I made some breakfast, eggs, bacon, fruit salad, potatoes and toast, which we all enjoyed, Calleigh had two scrambled eggs and some potatoes.  Andy made coffee, and Calleigh helped him.  Then the two of them sat down for a coffee party.  Calleigh got a few small glasses of coffee herself.

We continued with potty training Calleigh, however, today wasn't as good as yesterday.  We had about four little accidents, but the last little accident she had, she caught herself mid stream.  She started to go, and was saying "potty mommy, potty" so I ran her into the bathroom, so that she could finish on the toilet.  She did.  So that is a really good start for her.  We will see how it goes tomorrow.

Later, we went over to Grandma Barb's and Grandpa Jerry's house for a swim and dinner. We enjoyed our time over there.  We swam in their hot tub of a pool, and Calleigh went down the slide a whole bunch of times.  We had a nice time over there, and look forward to another nice day swimming tomorrow.

Andy and I finished the day off with a beautiful wedding reception of one of my old co-workers.  It was a lot of fun and nice to catch up with some old friends.

It's Potty Time

This is not Calleigh, just
thought it was a cute
picture!!!
Today, I decided that today was the official day of trying to get Calleigh to start being potty trained.  I got all the necessary equipment, underwear, potty seat, timer, and candy.  As soon as she got up this morning we started sitting on the potty.  She was a little apprehensive of putting on her new underwear, she didn't like it at first, but I tried to explain to her that mom wears underwear, dad wears underwear and now she has to wear underwear.  She was okay with it after wards.  I set the timer for 15 minutes, and every 15 minutes she went and sat on the potty.  The first couple of times the timer went off, I had to tell her "let's go and sit on the potty." Once we did this a few times, the next time the timer went off, she ran into the bathroom to sit on the potty.  We only had one little accident, thank goodness for tile flooring.  She did so well today, hopefully we can keep it up tomorrow.

Happy Canada Day

Yes, we still celebrated Canada Day.  It is still important for Calleigh to know where her mom comes from, and the fact that she is half Canadian after all.  This morning, Calleigh painted a Canadian flag, and did a great job at it.  Later we made a cream cheese tart, with strawberries as the maple leaf.  Calleigh helped me put the graham crackers in the tart pan.  I think she liked eating it more though.  We finished our day with a swim and dinner at Grandma Cathy's house.  Happy Canada Day!!!!

Interesting Fact

Tonight, Calleigh was playing with some of her little babies.  One baby in particular, seemed really small to me.  I looked at it and wondered how big it measured, it seemed to me that it would be the perfect size to fit inside my belly.  I got my measuring tape out and measured from the top of it's head to its bum.  It turned out it is exactly 8 inches long.  The same exact length, a baby at 23 weeks should be measuring.  It was kind of crazy to me.  So here is a little picture of the baby and its measurements.  Gives you an idea of how big the little person is inside my belly.  Kind of cool!!!!

Dancing Queen

Tonight Calleigh was in her bedroom, dancing away to her music.  She was shaking her thing.  It was so adorable.

Wedding Bliss

Three years ago today, I married my best friend.  It was truly the best day of our lives.  Yes, it was a little hot outside, (glad it wasn't as hot as it is today)  We were surrounded with about 150 of our closest family and friends, we truly are blessed.

My day started really early, there was hair, makeup and getting into that dress, that every little girls dreams about wearing.  I was a little nervous, about the ceremony, so many things to try and remember, but the high light was definitely walking down the aisle to meet my future husband.

Andy's day started off not as early of course, not as much preparation to do, but still had to get ready for the biggest day of his life.  He was nervous, as well, and looked so stunning standing at the end of the aisle.

We had a full Catholic mass ceremony, and it went pretty well, and Andy and I didn't forget any of our lines, so that was good.  Next was of course signing our marriage license, and pictures.  A lot of pictures.  Then it was off to the reception for the party and eating.

This was truly the best day of our lives, and I am so thankful and blessed that I have a great husband/dad, that works hard and supports his family.  I love you with all my heart.  Happy Anniversary!!

Fun with a tent

Today, we got home from Art class, and I decided to set up her little princess tent.  I put it away awhile ago, because really it just takes up to much room in our house.  Well today, we needed something new to play with.  So I set up the little princess tent, for Calleigh.  She loves that thing.  She brings everything she possible can into the tent.  She even brought her little chair in the tent to sit on.  She had books and toys, in her tent, there was barely enough room for her to sit in the tent.  She even tried to get Cash (our dog) into the tent with her.  However, he had other ideas.

A little Angle

As you probably know, we attend mass every Sunday and have since Calleigh was only a few days old.  Of course there have been ups and downs, with sleeping in church when she was younger to, not wanting to sit and having to spend most of mass at the back of the church.  I think it has paid off, after seeing her today in mass.  She was a little angle.  She loves to greet everyone in the morning just before mass starts.  She loves to watch and listen to the music playing.  She points out the cross, and says "there's Jesus".  During the prayers of the faithful she always responds along with us "lord hear our prayer."  We get so many compliments of how cute and well behaved she is in church.  It just goes to show, that if you are consistent, and persistent of their expectations, they wont let you down.  We are very proud of Calleigh and what she is starting to become.

Swimming at/with Grandma

Before coming over to my mom's house, I asked Calleigh, "Do you want to go to Grandma's swim?" She promptly started taking off her pants and tried to put her bathingsuit on.  I told her just to wait until we got to grandma's.  Well we got to grandma's and walked into the house and started undressing herself.  I guess she just really wanted to go swimming.  Calleigh has so much fun jumping into the water.  She will stand at the side and say "one, two, three, go" then she jumps in the water and goes under the water and everything.  She loves to kick her feet and make big splashes.  I think the swimming lessons have really helped her become more comfortable in the water.  We look forward to going to Grandma Barb's and Grandpa Jerry's to try out their little slide into their pool.

Bowling

Today I had two girls that I do respite for.  Friday's are our day to do something fun.  Last week we went to the library, well today we decided to go bowling.  It was a lot of fun.  Calleigh even got in on the action.  (of course with the help of me)  It was so adorable, the balls were so heavy that she really couldn't lift them, but she tried anyways.  Hopefully her dad can teach her some tricks when she can actually handle and carry a bowling ball.  Here are some pictures of our bowling experience today:

Last day of Swimming

Today was the last day of swimming, and Calleigh has done such a good job.  She was so comfortable the last couple of days.  Not even holding onto me and walking around the shallow end talking to all the other kids.  Today we got to go down the frog slide.  I thought maybe Calleigh wouldn't want to go, but she surprised me, she went sliding down with no help.  And went three times, before we had to get out of the pool.  I think we will take a couple weeks off, then do swimming lessons again.
